I have discovered a remarkable piece of technology here in Japan, a device smaller than a packet of smokes, capable of tethering up to 10 devices and providing internet service of up to 40mbps download and 10 up.
Thanks to the kind advice of a Bic Camera employee I was able to sign a one year contact and get the device for ¥1 which is a little bit more than ¢1, at the moment for about $40 I get unlimited internet use anywhere with signal. If I downgrade my plan at no penalty cost before I leave I’ll only pay ¥350 ($5) a month while I’m not here and then a max of $60 a month for unlimited use when I am here!
Now I ask myself how can Telstra charge a hundred bucks for wired internet at less than half the speed and a limit of 60 gigs a month! NZ is far too far behind the times!
It’s crazy how advanced japan is on one hand then how pre historic it is when it comes to things like workers rights or disability rights/mainstreaming!
Will see what I can do about the pocari!
That’s pretty sweet man. And yeah, internet is just one of many commodities we’re being charged crazily for in comparison to other countries eh.
But bro, The Times They Are A’ Changin’.
And bring back some Pocari Sweat man. It’s the freakin shit.
