Caught one!

Brilliantly hot day today, spent all day out on the water in the dinghy put-putting around the local bays.

Morning fishing only resulted in a couple of bites as we trawled along, nothing spectacular to report though as every one of those was ‘the one that got away’

After a long pause for lunch, about three hours, we then went back out trying to catch something on the outgoing tide.

The pretty-shiny lure failed to catch anything, but the special ‘live bait’ (made of fake bio-degradable, food by-product) enticed something to bite while sitting in the shelter of a small island just off of little-kaiteriteri. Unfortunately the bait was too optimistically big for the size of the snack fish that were chewing on it.

A quick switch to some neon-glowing lures with small hooks on each one and I was finally able to hook my first fish of the summer.

Sure, it reeks of desperation for a catch, but who knows, the poor little spotty that lucked onto my hook, might taste great off the BBQ.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Other than that, we know have a Christmas tree at the beach-house batch, but it has yet to be decorated. I’ll follow up with some photos later on now that Vodafone has sorted it’s issues out and fixed the network.

Hope everyone else has had a great day preparing for Christmas in whatever way you do.
